Chemotherapy induced toxic myelopathy

According to recent research from Germany, "Toxic myelopathy is a rare complication of intrathecal chemotherapy in hematological malignancies. During the differential diagnostic work-up CNS carcinomatosis must be excluded."
"We describe 2 patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, who were treated by intrathecal methotrexate and cytosine arabinoside. Both patients developed a spinal syndrome with paraparesis, sensory deficits and urine and bowel incontinence. Spinal MRI enabled a clear visualization of these medullary lesions.
