Serum YKL-40 levels are correlated with hepatic fibrosis stage in schistosomiasis japonica patients. A group of researchers in China conducted a study to "evaluate the serum levels of human cartilage glycoprotein 39 (YKL-40) and hyaluronic acid (HA) in people infected with Schistosoma japonicum, and to determine their clinical value."
