The antioxidant capacity of most healthy subjects provides proper protection from a short exhaustive exercise challenge.

According to a study from Israel, "The objective of our study was to evaluate the effect of short-term intensive exercise on the susceptibility of serum lipids to ex-vivo peroxidation. We assessed the association between aerobic capacity, serum composition, and serum lipid oxidizability as well as the association between aerobic capacity and the effect of short-term maximal exercise on the kinetics of ex-vivo copper-induced peroxidation of serum lipids."
