Positron emission tomography used to detect bone marrow involvement in lymphoma

Use of [F-18]fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography imaging could aid the detection of bone marrow involvement in patients with malignant lymphoma.

Scientists in Spain conducted a study "to assess the usefulness of [F-18]fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography in the detection of bone marrow involvement in malignant lymphoma and its impact in clinical management. One hundred and six consecutive patients with a confirmed diagnosis of lymphoma, referred for staging or restaging of Hodgkin's lymphoma (n=18) or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (n=88), were reviewed retrospectively."
