HSCT-related graft failure in thalassemia reduced by unrelated donor selection

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation-related graft failure in thalassemia patients may be reduced by selecting 5-loci HLA-matched donors without nonpermissive mismatches at HLA-DPB1.

According to a recently published study from Italy, "The success of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) from matched unrelated donors (UDs) for beta-thalassemia may be hampered by the occurrence of graft rejection.
