Recent studies from Netherlands, United States and France add new data to cancer treatment research

Investigators in Netherlands, United States and France have published new cancer treatment data.

Study 1: Myeloma and lymphoma patients tolerated simvastatin, given immediately prior to chemotherapy, up to a dose of 15 mg/kg/day.

According to recent research published in the Haematologica - the Hematology Journal, "In vitro statins induce apoptosis in myeloma and lymphoma cells in a dose- and time-dependent way. In combination with dexamethasone and doxorubicin, statins have a chemo-sensitizing effect."
