Researchers' work from the United Kingdom, Austria and Germany adds to cell biology body of knowledge

Cell biology data are the focus of recent research from the United Kingdom, Austria and Germany.

Study 1: Valganciclovir is safe and effective as pre-emptive therapy for cytomegalovirus infection in allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

"Despite significant advances in prevention and therapy, cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection continues to be an important cause of morbidity and mortality in the hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipient. The standard drug for pre-emptive therapy is intravenous ganciclovir (GCV)," scientists in the United States report.
