Research from the United States and Spain add new data to genetics body of knowledge

New findings from the United States and Spain describe advances in genetics.

Study 1: HIV-1 RT modifications in vector systems are used to deliver target genes exclusively to tumor cells.

"Retroviruses and DNA viruses utilize cellular dNTPs as substrates for their DNA polymerases during viral replication in infected cells. However, because of S phase-dependent dNTP biosynthesis, the availability of cellular dNTPs significantly varies among cell types (e. g. dividing versus nondividing cells and normal versus tumor cells)," scientists in the United States report.
