Study 1: Canine myocardial infarction (MI) models show erythropoietin (EPO) enhances cardiac tissue neovascularization.
According to recent research from Japan, "We investigated the effects of EPO on neovascularization and cardiac function after MI. Erythropoietin exerts antiapoptotic effects and mobilizes endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs)."
