Iron accumulation in hepatitis C is influenced by Helicobacter pylori

According to research from Japan, iron accumulation in hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is influenced by Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection. "Iron may play a role in the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis C. Hp infection was recently associated with iron-deficiency anemia. We examined the influence of Hp infection on hepatic iron accumulation in hepatitis C," wrote Y. Sumida and colleagues, Nara City Hospital.
