Scientists at Okayama University discuss research in sepsis therapy

New research, "Stimulation of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor inhibits CD14 and the toll-like receptor 4 expression in human monocytes," is the subject of a report. According to recent research from Okayama, Japan, "The lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-receptor complex, CD14/toll-like receptor 4, is known to play a role in the immune responses during sepsis. Excessive inflammation and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha synthesis have been reported to cause morbidity and mortality in endotoxemia and sepsis."
