Investigators at Showa University, and Department of Surgery zero in on ischemia

New research, "Interleukin-6 and STAT3 protect the liver from hepatic ischemia and reperfusion injury during ischemic preconditioning," is the subject of a report. "Ischemic preconditioning has been shown to protect the liver from ischemia/reperfusion injury. We hypothesized that IL-6 directly modulates the protective effects of ischemic preconditioning," investigators in Yokohama, Japan report.
