Study data from M.M. Malek et al provide new insights into laparoscopy

According to recent research from the United States, "Iatrogenic splenic injury requiring splenectomy is a well-recognized and potentially serious complication of colon resection. Iatrogenic splenectomy is associated with significant morbidity and mortality, including bleeding and the post-splenectomy sepsis syndrome."
