Researchers detail in 'New therapeutic options for adult chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura: a brief review,' new data in thrombocytopenic purpura. According to a study from Vienna, Austria, "Patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) only require treatment if they are bleeding, or prior to scheduled operations. Patients are also treated if platelet counts are very low."
