Scientists at Sun Yat-Sen University target perfusion

Research findings, 'Screening and identification of differentially expressed genes in myocardial ischaemia/reperfusion injury using suppression subtractive hybridization,' are discussed in a new report. "Myocardial ischaemia/reperfusion (MI/R) injury is characterized by metabolic and ultrastructural changes, which lead to irreversible injury. Several mechanisms have been postulated for the pathogenesis of MI/R injury although little is known regarding the role of myocardial gene expression," investigators in People's Republic of China report.
