Research from University of Tokyo, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine provide new insights into atherosclerosis

A new study, 'Role of bone marrow renin-angiotensin system in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis,' is now available. According to a study from Tokyo, Japan, "The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) has been considered to be a circulating hormonal system that regulates blood pressure, blood flow, fluid volume and electrolyte balance. A growing body of evidence indicates local effects of an activated RAS, particularly in the cardiac, vascular, and renal systems."
