Findings from University of Florida broaden understanding of life sciences

According to recent research from the United States, "Madura foot is rarely encountered in clinical practice in the United States, and a recent review of the biomedical literature revealed only 24 cases reported worldwide since 1981."

"In this report, we describe the case of a patient who presented with an advanced pedal Nocardia. mycetoma," wrote C. Gosselink and colleagues, University of Florida.

The researchers concluded: "Although this condition is not unheard of, we felt that the rarity of the condition warranted reporting."
