Reports from W.S. Choi et al highlight recent research in osteotomy

"Tranexamic acid has been used to reduce blood loss and the subsequent need for transfusion in orthopedic, spinal, and cardiac surgery. Orthognathic surgery can be associated with significant bleeding yet its efficacy in this setting is not clear," scientists writing in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery report.
