2010 DEC 30 -- Current study results from the report, 'Induction of FPN1 transcription by MTF-1 reveals a role for ferroportin in transition metal efflux,' have been published. "Ferroportin (Fpn) is the only known iron exporter in vertebrate cells and plays a critical role in iron homeostasis regulating cytosolic iron levels and exporting iron to plasma. Ferroportin1 (FPN1) expression can be transcriptionally regulated by iron as well as other transition metals," scientists in the United States report.
