Studies from University of Arkansas for Medical Science Update Current Data on Subcellular Fractions

2011 OCT 13 -- Investigators publish new data in the report "Protein kinase C-epsilon activation induces mitochondrial dysfunction and fragmentation in renal proximal tubules. 'PKC-e activation mediates protection from ischemia-reperfusion injury in the myocardium. Mitochondria are a subcellular target of these protective mechanisms of PKC-e," scientists writing in the American Journal of Physiology Renal Physiology report.
