Report Summarizes Ischemia Study Findings from Kochi University

2011 DEC 22 -- Research findings, "Continuous monitoring of glucose levels in the hepatic vein and systemic circulation during the Pringle maneuver in beagles," are discussed in a new report. "Intraoperative continuous glucose monitoring revealed that liver ischemia/reperfusion causes a rapid and profound transition in glucose concentration. We hypothesized that the washout of the glucose stored in the liver leads to a rapid transition in blood glucose concentration," scientists writing in the Journal of Artificial Organs report.
