Research from University of New South Wales Has Provided New Data on Sepsis

2011 DEC 29 -- A report, "Peripheral photoplethysmography variability analysis of sepsis patients," is newly published data in Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing. According to the authors of a study from Kensington, Australia, "Sepsis is associated with impairment in autonomic regulatory function. This work investigates the application of heart rate and photoplethysmogram (PPG) waveform variability analysis in differentiating two categories of sepsis, namely systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and severe sepsis."
