Researchers from Karolinska Institute Publish Findings in Stem Cell Research

2012 FEB 9 -- Current study results from the report, "Liver transplantation for erythropoietic protoporphyria in Europe," have been published. According to the authors of a study from Stockholm, Sweden, "Liver transplantation is an established lifesaving treatment for patients with severe protoporphyric liver disease, but disease recurrence in the graft occurs for the majority of recipients. Severe burn injuries may occur when protective light filters are not used with surgical luminaires."
