Findings from M.S. Lever and Co-Researchers Advance Knowledge in Ebola Virus

2012 MAR 1 -- Current study results from the report, "Lethality and pathogenesis of airborne infection with filoviruses in A129 a/ß -/- interferon receptor-deficient mice," have been published. According to the authors of a study from Salisbury, United Kingdom, "Normal immunocompetent mice are not susceptible to non-adapted filoviruses. There are therefore two strategies available to establish a murine model of filovirus infection: adaptation of the virus to the host or the use of genetically modified mice that are susceptible to the virus."
