M. Garciaclosas and colleagues sought to determine if GSTM1 and GSTT1 might protect against breast cancer because of their role in metabolizing carcinogens. They studied 466 women with incident cases of breast cancer against 466 matched controls. The women were diagnosed between May 1989 and May 1994.
No increased breast cancer risk was found in the GSTM1 genotype (Odds ratio (OR)=1.05 [95% confidence interval (CI)=0.80-1.37] )...
