Since measurement of total body nitrogen (TBN) in patients with serious illness has been hypothesized to be an accurate indicator of clinical course, A. Aslani and colleagues in Australia designed a study to test whether or not TBN would predict chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. The results of their study were published in Cancer ("The predictive value of body protein for chemotherapy-induced toxicity," Cancer, 2000;88(4):796-803).
