Tumors with High PTA Levels Related to Poor Outcome

Scientists say that breast cancer patients with tumors having high prothymosin alpha (PTA) levels can expect a worse outcome than their counterparts with low or moderate PTA levels.

After having suggested in a previous study that PTA levels in primary breast tumors be used to identify patients at high risk for distant metastasis, C. Magdalena and colleagues designed another study to examine the role of PTA levels in relation to disease-free survival (DFS) and survival.
