"Adenovirus-Mediated Gene Therapy for Human Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancer in a Nude Mouse Model."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 86th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research, held March 18-22, 1995, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, "Adenovirus-mediated transfer of the Herpes Simplex Virus thymidine kinase gene followed by ganciclovir administration was used to treat human head and neck cancer in nude mice. Tumors were generated by transcutaneous needle injection into the floor of the mouse of 6x106 human squamous carcinoma cells. After 14 days, 1010 particles of a replication defective recombinant adenovirus containing the Herpes Simplex Virus thymidine kinase gene (ADV/RSV-tk) were injected directly into the tumors. ...
