New Method Non-Invasively Determines If Cancer Treatments Are Effective

Dr. Richard L. Wahl, Director of General Nuclear Imaging at the University of Michigan Medical Center, reported about the use of positron emission tomography (PET) to monitor breast cancer chemotherapy at the American Cancer Society's 37th Science Writers Seminar, March 29, 1995, held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Wahl remarked that determining if a cancer therapy is going to be effective or ineffective is a very important clinical question that often cannot be answered until a treatment is given for many months.
