Targeting Gene Fusion Products as Therapy for Specific Cancers

Dr. E. Sham P. Reddy, from the Jefferson Cancer Institute at Thomas Jefferson University, a college considered by many to be one of the leading colleges for chromosomal research in the United States, presented information at the American Cancer Society's 37th Science Writers Seminar, March 27, 1995, concerning the potential therapeutic use of EWS-fusion products for Ewing sarcoma, primitive neuroectodermal tumors and Askin tumors.
According to Dr. Reddy, recent characterization of human solid tumors has revealed recurrent chromosome translocations suggesting that these chromosome abnormalities may be responsible for certain human malignancies.
