"Mobilization of Hematopoietic Progenitors into the Blood: Mechanisms, Regimens and Outcomes."

According to an abstract submitted by the author to the New York Academy of Sciences conference Bone Marrow Transplantation in the 90's: Into the 21st Century, held March 15-18, 1995, "There are numerous reports in the literature of regimens for 'mobilizing' peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC). These regimens fall into two types, chemotherapy ± hematopoietic growth factors and growth factors alone. The objective and outcome of these regimens is increasing circulating hematopoietic progenitors. The mechanism by which this occurs is wholly unknown.
