IL-7 Gene Transfer Enhances Antitumor Immunity by Inhibiting TGF-(beta)1.

Recent findings suggest that IL-7 gene transfer enhances the efficacy of the host's antitumor immune response by inhibiting production of transforming growth factor-(beta)1 (TGF-(beta)1).

Steven M. Dubinett et al. suggest that IL-7 can be used as a cytokine for the in vitro expansion of lymphocytes for adoptive transfer and as an immunotherapeutic systemic agent against cancer, ("Down-Regulation of Murine Fibrosarcoma Transforming Growth Factor-(beta)1 Expression by Interleukin-7," Journal of the National Cancer Institute, April 19, 1995;87(8):593-97).
