In a study released in the June 1, 1995, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, scientists report that a small percentage of patients with lung, ovarian and breast cancer produce antibodies that might stop the spread of cancer.
Cancer growth may depend on calcium channel proteins. The antibodies produced by some patients work against these proteins, but also have the potential to attack nerve and brain cells.
