Newly reported studies also concluded that piperacillin/tazobactam is as effective as commonly used combination regimens or imipenem for the treatment of intra-abdominal infections and that the antibiotic is more effective than currently used regimens when combined with tobramycin, for hospital-acquired lower respiratory tract infections.
