"Experience and Problems with Endobronchial Silicone Stents in Stenosing Airway Tumors."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 1995 International Conference of the American Thoracic Society, held May 20-24, 1995, in Seattle, Washington, "We have implanted 38 Dumon silicone stents in 34 patients suffering from inoperable lung cancer or metastasis. Four patients were wearing two stents, either in both main stem bronchi or in the distal trachea and in one main stem bronchus. The longest stay of a stent is actually 40 months without any problem. In two patients the prosthesis had to be removed after widening of the bronchus by radiotherapy.
