Serological Test Recognizes HPV Types 6/11 in Gynecologic Patients

Human papillomavirus (HPV)-6 and -11 LI virus-like particles (VLP) are effective antigens for serologic detection of prior and/or latent HPV infection.

Recent studies indicate that an increasing proportion of genital HPV infections are subclinical or latent. Routine cytologic and colposcopy exams may not detect latent infections and misdiagnosis is likely. Current DNA detection assays are also limited in that they detect only current infections.
