Direct DNA May Be Vaccine Strategy for HPV

Direct DNA injection to stimulate human papillomavirus immunity may prove to be an effective vaccine strategy, according to a report from the University of California.

Researcher M.A. Jarvis and colleagues suggest that this direct DNA approach is more adaptable to the numerous human papillomavirus (HPV) types and avoids some of the problems experienced with recombinant protein vaccines.

Jarvis et al. presented their findings at the International Symposium on Clinical Immunology, held July 20-23 in San Francisco, California.
