Washington State Proposes HBV Immunization of Children

The Washington State Board of Health and the Washington State Department of Health announced they held public meetings August 28, 1995, to introduce a proposal to add hepatitis B vaccine to the list of required immunizations for children.

"Hepatitis B is totally preventable," said State Health Officer Dr. Mimi Fields. "If we immunize our children now they will be protected from infection further down the road. The Department of Health endorses the national recommendations that children should be fully protected with the series of three shots before they are 18 months old."
