Company Completes Enrollment In T Cell Gene Therapy Trial For AIDS

Cell Genesys, Inc., Foster City, California, announced that it recently completed patient enrollment for the Phase I portion of its initial trial of anti-HIV T-cell gene therapy for AIDS.

Twenty-nine patients have entered the Phase I/II trial which began October 1994 at the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The Phase II portion of this trial is expected to begin later in 1995 after review of Phase I safety results.

Cell Genesys' T-cell gene therapy is a novel therapy which involves the genetic modification of killer T cells from the human immune system for the treatment of viral infection and cancer. Company...
