New Findings Help to Understand the Von Hippel-Lindau Tumor Suppressor Gene

A potential breakthrough for cancer prevention and treatment has some Oklahoma doctors combining efforts with physicians nationwide in an effort to develop new ways to combat the disease.

Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) scientists Drs. Joan and Ronald Conaway have found a key element in understanding the von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor gene that predisposes people to cancer.

"We hope it will lead to the development of new drugs to treat cancer," Conaway said.
