Collaboration To Develop Second Antisense Cancer Compound Announced

Isis Pharmaceuticals, Carlsbad, California, announced it has signed a letter of intent with Ciba-Geigy Limited to broaden the companies' antisense research and development collaboration to include the development of ISIS 3521, an anticancer compound that is Jan antisense inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC).

Isis and Ciba are targeting filing an IND by the end of 1995 to commence Phase I clinical trials of ISIS 3521.

The broadened collaboration will also include research to discover additional therapeutic compounds targeting isotypes of the multi-gene family, PKC, and development of these compounds. Isotypes of PKC are implicated in a broad range of...
