Use of Cancer Screening Is Limited by Patient Preconceptions

The more knowledgeable patients are about colorectal cancer screening tests, the more likely they are to be tested, according to a study released that assesses patients' attitudes about their quality of life.

Drs. Jason Dominitz and Dawn Provenzale of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, tested the use of the "trade-off technique" (TTO) to determine whether patients would trade-off a portion of their life just to avoid colorectal cancer screening.
