rhIL-11 Advances into Phase III Trials for Platelet Restoration
November 20th, 1995
Genetics Institute, Inc., Cambridge, Massachusetts, announced that its recombinant human interleukin-11 (rhIL-11) has begun a multi-center Phase III clinical trial for platelet restoration in patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy. This placebo-controlled trial will include approximately 40 centers in the United States and will enroll up to 250 patients. Favorable results of a Phase II study of rhIL-11, in which a statistically significant number of rhIL-11 treated patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy successfully avoided platelet transfusions when compared to patients on placebo, were announced in May 1995.
