According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 4th International Conference on Gene Therapy of Cancer, held November 9-11, 1995, in San Diego, California, "p56, a truncated version of Rb beginning at amino acid number 379, is a more potent inhibitor of cell cycle progression than is the full-length Rb. p56 is able to repress the activity of a reporter gene consisting of the chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) gene driven by an adenovirus E2 promoter containing 2 E2F binding sites, to a greater extent than full length Rb.
