Host Immunosuppression Increases Gene Therapy Efficacy

Researchers show that the host's immune response against adenovirally transduced cells limits the therapeutic efficacy of gene transduction. In general terms, enhanced immune reactions against tumors is therapeutically useful. However, research with adenoviral vectors has shown that host immune responses against the vector limits the efficacy and persistence of gene expression. Ashraf A.
