Scientists Cite Advances in Aspirin/Cancer Research

Researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), Nashville, Tennessee, believe they have discovered how aspirin affects an enzyme in colon cancer tissue. Scientists say the discovery might lead to developing effective drug therapies for colon cancer that don't have aspirin's side effects of ulcers and gastric bleeding. "There have been a lot of studies done showing that people who take aspirin on a regular basis have less colon cancer," said Dr. Raymond N. DuBois Jr., associate professor of medicine.
