Preliminary Results from Doxil Trial in KS Patients Presented

Sequus Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Menlo Park, California, announced the presentation of a poster by Dr. Donald W. Northfelt at the American Society of Hematology meeting, held in Seattle, Washington, indicating that a new cancer drug, Doxil, showed promising results when compared to standard combination chemotherapy (Adriamycin, Bleomycin and Vincristine, or "ABV") in treating Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) in people with AIDS.

According to the poster presentation, responses were assessed by modified AIDS Clinical Trial Group (ACTG) criteria. A total of 258 patients were enrolled in the trial; of these, 239 patients (131 Doxil and 108 ABV) received more than two cycles of therapy...
