Bladder Screening Technology 95 Percent Accurate and Effective

A proprietary technology under development at Oncor, Inc., Gaithersburg, Maryland, was shown to be 95 percent accurate in detecting bladder cancer among 25 patients with suspicious bladder lesions, according to a report published in the February 2, 1996, issue of the journal Science.

The new technology uses urine samples to detect early stage cancers and represents a significant advance over traditional bladder cancer diagnostic screening techniques such as urine cytology, which can miss up to 50 percent of tumors.
