"HLA Class II Expression in Melanoma: Implications for Immunotherapy."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 49th Cancer Symposium of the Society of Surgical Oncology, held March 21-24, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia, "HLA antigens are essential components of the specific arm of the immune system, presenting peptide antigens to T cells which then must differentiate self from non-self. While HLA class I antigens are ubiquitously expressed, constitutive expression of HLA class II antigens is normally restricted to professional antigen presenting cells of the immune system.
