"Cirrhosis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Medical and Interventional Therapy."

According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 10th International Congress of Liver Diseases entitled Acute and Chronic Liver Diseases: Molecular Biology and Clinics, held October 19-21, 1995, in Basel, Switzerland, "Hepatocellular carcinoma and cirrhosis are closely associated. The great majority of hepatocellular carcinomas, whether in regions of high, low, or intermediate incidence of the tumor, co-exist with cirrhosis, and longstanding cirrhosis, whatever the cause, may be complicated by malignant transformation.
